MARK THOMPSON, PLANO CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU DIRECTOR, AWARDED THE TALL IN TEXAS AWARD
Plano Executive Recognized for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism by the Texas Travel Industry Association
PLANO, Texas (Sept. 28, 2009) ─ Mark Thompson, Director of the Plano Convention and Visitors Bureau, was presented the prestigious Tall in Texas Award by the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA) today in Arlington, Texas.
The Tall in Texas Award is given annually to an individual nominated from the membership for his or her outstanding contributions to tourism and to TTIA. The nominee is an industry professional who, through his or her commitment and influence upon travel and tourism, has changed the face of the industry on a local, regional or state-wide level.
“Mark is most deserving of this award, the highest honor in the Tourism industry,” said Nanci Liles, Executive Director of the Abilene CVB and last year’s Tall in Texas recipient. “Mark is dedicated to Plano, as well as the entire state of Texas, and has made many contributions to the success of the Texas travel industry, always exhibiting the highest degree of professionalism.”
Liles presented a surprised Thompson with the award at the opening day luncheon of TTIA’s annual conference, Summit. Thompson was applauded by the hundreds of guests in attendance at the luncheon.
